Hello and welcome to Top Norwegian words. Today, we are going to look at 10 Must Know Autumn Vocabulary. Let’s get started.
1. Genser "sweater"
Denne genseren arvet jeg fra en venn. "This sweater I inherited from a friend."
2. Regnete "rainy"
Det var en regnete dag. "It was a rainy day."
3. Vindfullt "windy"
I dag er det vindfullt ute så ta på deg en varm jakke. "Today it is windy, so put on a warm jacket."
4. Halloween "Halloween"
Halloween er kjempegøy for barna. "Halloween is great fun for the kids."
5. Høst "autumn"
Det er typisk høstvær i dag. "It is typical autumn weather today."
6. Forkjølelse "cold"
Jeg har blitt forskjøla! "I have caught a cold!"
7. Kastanjenøtt "chestnut"
Kastanjenøttene faller fra trærne. "The chestnuts are falling from the trees."
8. Langermet skjorte "long-sleeved shirt"
Jeg må ta frem alle de langermede skjortene mine nå. "I have to take out all my long-sleeved shirts now."
9. Blad "leaf"
Dette bladet var fint. "This leaf was pretty."
Blad can also mean magazine.
10. Thanksgiving - høsttakkefest "Thanksgiving"
I Amerika feirer de thanksgiving - høsttakkefest - på høsten. "In the United States, they celebrate Thanksgiving in the autumn."
So the original Norwegian word for Thanksgiving is høsttakkefest which means “Autumn thanksgiving” but we often also use just the American Thanksgiving as a common word.
