Maryssa: Slang Expressions Used Among Teenagers, Part 1

Maryssa: This is Must-Know Norwegian Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 12. In this lesson you'll learn slang expressions used among teenagers, part 1.
Maryssa: Some words are used mostly by teenagers. Here are a few that you might hear from them.

Maryssa: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:

Patrick: ass
Maryssa: It doesn’t have a literal meaning. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "you know, right."

Maryssa: Use this slang expression when you want someone to know that you really mean what you're saying.

Maryssa: It doesn’t have a literal meaning. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "worried, anxious."

Maryssa: Use this slang expression when you are worried about something or feeling anxious. It is an abbreviation of the Norwegian word paranoia, which is the same as the English "paranoia."

Maryssa: Use this slang expression when you want to explain that you are not doing anything productive, just hanging around. It is the name of a Norse god known for mischief and trickery.

Maryssa: "We are just hanging around."

Maryssa: Okay, what's the last expression?

Maryssa: literally meaning "chill." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "relax."
