Hi, everybody! In this lesson, you'll learn some important phrases about Christmas in Norway and some valuable cultural tips.
In Norwegian, Christmas is called...

Norwegians traditionally spend Christmas with their families.
They get together to enjoy a delicious supper on Christmas Eve, hand out gifts, and sing carols around the Christmas tree. On Christmas morning, they watch special Christmas TV shows together.
On jul, or "Christmas Day," Norwegians greet each other by saying God jul!

It means "Merry Christmas!"
When you meet someone on Christmas day, be sure to greet them with this phrase.

It means "rice porridge."
Rice porridge for lunch on the day before Christmas is a tradition in many Norwegian homes. It is prepared with well-cooked white rice and salt. Sometimes sugar and vanilla are added.
